| B204 type low-temperature CO shift catalyst was
developed by Research Institute of Nanjing Chemical Industrial
Group as a substitution for imports at the end of the 1980s.
It is widely used in synthetic ammonia plants and hydrogen-generating
plants with natural gas, petroleum associated gas, light oil
or coal as raw material, especially in the plants operating
on low ratio of steam to dry-gas for energy saving.
Physical and Chemical Properties
1. Chemical Composition
CuO, ZnO and Al2O3
2. Physical Properties
Appearance: Black spheric cylinder with metallic luster
Size: Φ5mm×(4~5)mm
Bulk density: 1.4~1.6kg/L
Specific surface: ~70m2/g
Radial crush strength: ≥160N/cm
3. Quality Index
Measured up to the standard of Q/SHNJ033-2001.
Under the standard condition:
Initial activity ( CO conversion ): ≥93%
Activity after heat run (CO conversion): ≥88 %
4. Operation Conditions
Temperature: 180~260℃
Pressure: 0.6 ~5.0MPa
Ratio of steam to dry gas: 0.40~0.60
Space velocity: 1000 ~3000 h-1
Commercial Application
B204 type low-temperature CO shift catalyst has been widely
used in large-and medium-size ammonia plants in China since
its first application in a 300kt/a ammonia plant introduced
from abroad in 1980. The application shows that the activity
and service life of B204 are equal or superior to imports
used in the 1980s.
B204 won the Fourth Prize of National Invention.
